A LOVE LETTER TO MY TRANS BODY

It’s been a while.

Just some thoughts from learnings this week.

Hi. December 2022.

I got the lurgy which hasn’t been great.

Someone I admire wrote :

'I want you to know that I didn't change you because I don't love you'.

'I changed you because I love you too much not to feel at home in you.'

'I love you so much that I needed to make sure we could exist in harmony.'

A love letter to my trans body.

I want you to know that I didn’t change you because I don’t love you. I changed you because I love you too much to not feel at home in you.

-MAX

A friend from across the pond also reached out and asked for help this week, which I’m feeling really proud about. They talk about how ‘ African American trans men are the most invisible and most under served people in the LGBT community.

Our lives, the path we feel we have to take is a challenge. We are voluntarily accepting the role of Public Enemy No.1 the black man is the most feared man in America.

When we transition to female to male, we are accepting all the challenges that Black men in this country face, from society, from our families, and from ourselves. It’s a lot to bear.

Sometimes it’s hard but I’m glad we’re all still out here trying.
