Crafty Cuties
A place to hang out, create and share.
QTIBIPOC Crafty Cuties is an online hang-out space using the zoom platform.
It is an event held once or twice a month that is specifically aimed at creating space for people of the QTIBIPOC community across Europe and further afield to gather in a virtual space to share company and make things together.
What do you mean by QTIBIPOC people?
QTIBIPOC: "Queer, Trans, and Intersex, Black, Indigenous, People(s) of Colour… See also the glossary description for the term intersectionality. It should be further noted that identity labelling is complex and often contested. The acronym BIPOC (and its variations) has been challenged for its tendency to collapse the unique experiences of Indigenous Peoples, Black Peoples, and Peoples of Colour. Recalling that specificity is a core principle of inclusive writing, it is preferable to write specifically and directly about the experiences of particular people or groups of people, rather than trying to generalise across a wide swath of experiences."

Why is this space needed?
This space is necessary because even though Black, Indigenous and People Of Colour are the global majority, often BIPOC people of the LGBTQIA+ community face discrimination, erasure and threats of harm, even death, due to our very existence.
Many Black, Indigenous and People Of Colour living in Europe or in white settler colonies, feel isolated and even erased by online and in-person queer spaces - particularly art and crafting spaces. Many QTIBIPOC live in isolation from others in this community. Difficulties with travel, financial, accessibility and health commitments can all create insurmountable challenges, contributing to even more loneliness and isolation in an already hostile environment.
This online space hopes to be a little taste of togetherness where you may meet someone who looks like you do, living as you do and being creative in wonderful and amazing ways as you also do. It is a gathering where you can drop in and out as you feel, bring art and craft projects, bounce ideas, request help, advice or ideas sharing. Or simply to just work away on your own projects as you see and hear people that you feel more aligned with.
If you do not identify as QTIBIPOC, please respect the necessity of this space.
